One thing Duane Denison definitely did not experience in 2013 was boredom. There was the (once again) reunion of noiserock-overlords The Jesus Lizard or the foundation of supergroup The Unsamble (featuring Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten and Silver Jews‚ Brian Kotzur) – but first and foremost there was ‚Oddfellows‚, the might-as-well-be comeback and possibly best work by the even superer group Tomahawk. And thanks to Denison’s varied choices for his records of the year and the HeavyPop Advent calendar, there’s no place for boredom here, either.
Their brand of electronica somehow always manages to have some honest emotion to it, which is rare in the genre, right?
I don’t know what their name really is any more (God’s pee?) but I do know that I like the way they build things up.
Another „God“ band? What does it mean? Nothing. I just think these fellas do the grind thing better than anyone else, so if you want that vibe you got it here.
His last album? Some great tunes here, interesting lyrics, cool guitars, etc….old guys rule!
I don’t know if this came out in 2013 or not, I only got it a few months back. Classic Roxy tunes done 20’s style, no vocals. Unique and enjoyable.
