2014 has been a great year for Metal in generel, and Doom specifically. With their debut on Napalm Records, ‚Blood Eagle‚  Conan achieve their spot on the podium almost effortless, and edge out the qualities of the already fantastic ‚Monnos‚: six songs, six kicks to the face, processed into the homogenic context of their depressingly spotless discography. On day 14 of the Heavy Pop advent calendar, the doom masters tell us what’s spinning on their record tables.

Jon:

Weezer – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00M2D7L2I“ target=“_blank“ ]Everything Will Be Alright in the End[/amazon_link]‘
Delicious chunks of pop melody and grunge riffing, some of the catchiest and most uplifting music I’ve heard for, well, since their last album.

Bast – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00HNRQRXW“ target=“_blank“ ]Spectres[/amazon_link]‘
One part doom, one part death. This band are signed to Black Bow Records and play Roadburn 2015. So heavy.

Slomatics – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00IK85NV0″ target=“_blank“ ]Estron[/amazon_link]‘
One of my favorite bands. Slowly getting the attention they deserve. This album is all they are – heavy, catchy, disturbingly good tone – great tunes.

Chris:

Yob – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00LZGTKVI“ target=“_blank“ ]Clearing the Path to Ascend[/amazon_link]‘
Absolutely massive sounding, effortlessly conveys all manner of emotions from crushing lows to soaring highs.

Rich:

Cannibal Corpse – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00M856C84″ target=“_blank“ ]A Skeletal Domain[/amazon_link]‘
They just keep getting heavier, somehow simultaneously more progressive and catchy, with better production than ever.
