Knapp zwei Wochen nach ihren Kumpels von Godspeed You! Black Emperor kommen BIG|BRAVE nach Graz - und füllen zumindest das Orpheum Extra (mit Unterstützung von Ilun und Kee Avil) relativ ordentlich.
BIG|BRAVE treten nach Nature Morte (2023) und ihrem vorläufigen Meisterstück A Chaos of Flowers (2024) einen Schritt zur Seite und basteln den OST zu einem (erst imaginären, später aber durch director/visual artist Stacy Lee erschlossenen) Film.
Spätestens im zwischen düster-abgründigen The Cure und Testosteron- Saxophonmonster Tim Cappello pendelnden Nostalgie-Verlangen von Vampire wird klar, dass Bat For Lashes mit dem warm fließenden Lost Girls tatsächlich ganz unkaschiert ihr ureigenes, weibliche Pendant Kiefer Sutherlands legendärer Bande aufgenommen hat.
First you may think: writing about Black Map of course means to write about Dredg, Far and The Trophy Fire, if only because „…And We Explode“ bears trademarks of the three other bands Mark Engles, Chris Robyn und Ben Flanagan are involved with. But it comes as a bit of a surprise, how effortless the three-headed powerhouse succeeds in combining the straight walk in direction of atmospheric alternative rock, the constant flirt with grounded stadium-sound and the steadfast traction of meaty hits. And yeah, in the end actually it works perfectly without even mentioning their other prominent playgrounds.
