Josh Tillman, vormals Schlagzeuger des bärtigen Männerchors der Fleet Foxes, veröffentlicht nach 'Fear Fun' von 2012 mit 'I Love You, Honeybear' sein zweites Solo-Album. Eines vorweg, wer sich nach dem letzten Werk mehr Folksound gewünscht hat, wird enttäuscht sein. Die Arrangements in 'I Love You, Honeybear' sind gesteckt voll mit Instrumenten – ob geschwollene Streicher, elektrische Gitarrenklänge, sogar für Flöten ist Platz und das oft in nur einem Song. Neben einigen Folkmomenten sind, allerdings ähnlich umfangreich wie die Bandbreite der verwendeten Musikinstrumente, auch jazzige, soulige sowie elektronische Exkurse zu finden.
Ein Da Capo für den puren Missmut: 'You, Whom I Have Always Hated' macht nahtlos dort weiter, wo 'Released from Love' im letzten Jahr die bitterböse Maßstäbe für unheilige Crust/Doom-Alianzen setzte. Das Doppel aus Thou und The Body zersetzt dabei abermals jeden Funken Freundlichkeit mit einem speienden Schwall aus schleppendem Hass.

Restorations provozieren mitunter arg abenteuerliche Band-Vergleiche, wenn es um den Versuch geht, ihr drittes Album in Schubladen packen zu können. So absurd die Konstellationen dabei auch bisweilen erscheinen mögen: im Kern treffen sie auf dieses wunderbar rücksichtslos-mutige Punkrockalbum doch auch immer irgendwie zu.
Pianos Become The Teeth-Frontmann Kyle Durfey geißelte sich bereits über zwei verzweifelt-wütende Hardcore-Alben mit der Trauerarbeit um seinen erst erkrankten, dann verstorbenen Vater. Knappe drei Jahre nach dem Versprechen 'I'll Get By' lässt es sich nun allerdings schwer feststellen, ob er tatsächlich seinen Frieden mit den Gegebenheiten geschlossen hat, oder an dem Verlust innerlich zerbrochen ist.
