The fourth day of the HeavyPop Advent calendar brings us a hardcore sweeping swipe, with representatives of the impeccable labels Deathwish Inc. and Bridge 9 being the linchpin.
The year after Converge’s masterful ‚All We Love We Leave Behind‚ was a very successful one for their vocalist Jacob Bannon: his grade A label Deathwish Inc. was home to numerous of this years musical highlights (from Self Defense Familiy’s ‚Try Me‘ and Touché Amoré’s ‚Is Survived By‚ to the sensational Modern Life is War’s comeback-album ‚Fever Hunting‚), with their artworks often bearing the 37 year old’s handwriting, his project Wear Your Wounds saw it’s official debut in shape of a split-single with Relevator, and of course the leading role in his own documentary. Here’s his „Best of 2013 in no particular order„-List:
Depeche Mode – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00B8SSWJE“ target=“_blank“ ]Delta Machine[/amazon_link]‘
Zola Jesus – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00DI29OHC“ target=“_blank“ ]Versions[/amazon_link]‘

All things Deathwish
Nick Steinhardt is not only Touché Amoré’s guitarist, and with that in part responisble for masterpieces like this year’s ‚Is Survived By‚, he also made himself a name as designer, and gave face to the works of artists from Pink to Britney. His songs of the year 2013:
Miley Cyrus – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00ERMIENM“ target=“_blank“ ]Wrecking Ball[/amazon_link]‘
AFI – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00E6S7E8S“ target=“_blank“ ]17 Crimes[/amazon_link]‘
Deafheaven – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00CXZ3GDS“ target=“_blank“ ]Dream House[/amazon_link]‘
Chelsea Wolfe – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00EAWTLEA“ target=“_blank“ ]The Waves Have Come[/amazon_link]‘
VOW – ‚[amazon_link id=“B00DG79LXG“ target=“_blank“ ]Make Me Young[/amazon_link]‘
Since their 2010 EP ‚Never Mind the bombings, Here’s Your Six Figures‚ it’s been quiet around United Nations, the supergroup featuring Geoff Rickley, Ben Koller and Daryl Palumbo – instead the actual United Nations sued the band, and a harddrive crash seems to have destroyed a lot of the material of the upcoming releases ‚United Nations Plays Pretty for a Bunch of Fucking Babies‚, ‚Dark Side of the UN‚, and the ‚Music for Interchanging Parts‘ EP. So fans need to be patient and enjoy the beasts the band has released so far – and UN’s and The Lovekill-guitarist Jonah Bayer’s exquisite list concerning his records of the year.
